CAVIS – Central Advanced VISA and Imigration System

In order to make full use of the new Machine Readable Passports (MRP) and Visas, BMIL has come up with the latest in border control systems, designed for the immigration authorities to efficiently process all arrivals and departures at all international airports or border posts. The Central Advanced Visa & Immigration System (CAVIS) is a fully automated immigration control system with direct connectivity to the central database. CAVIS, complementing Brithol Michcoma’s SAVIS and SABIS, makes full use of the MRP not only by reading all embedded encrypted biometric data (2D Barcode or RFID chip) in the passport. CAVIS performes Facial Recognition and Fingerprint Identification to identify the individuals using their live capture photos and fingerprint scans against biometric data stored in the passport.

CAVIS has the capability of reading and processing all Machine Readable Passport as well as capturing Visa. It also retains important attributes of travelers as well as information about their port of origin, destination, and nationality, which can then be used by immigration authorities and security agencies, should the need arise.

CAVIS philosophy is “Let the machine do all the hard work, and let the Immigration officer concentrate on interacting with the passenger”. We achieve that by scanning the whole passport principle page capturing color, infrared and ultraviolet images to confirm security features within the passport. It also electronically reads and extracts all personal data, including both text and facial image of the passport holder, all in less than 4 seconds. The captured images have up to 20x zooming capability, allowing extra checks for micro text or any fraud attempts. History of individuals’ movements can be easily retrieved but with the advantage of passport scanned images and personal biometrics data.
