The direct and strongest link between the person and the passport is his biometrics. SABIS support a complete AFIS system, with both 1:1 and 1: n identification. The chance of two people having the exact fingerprints is less than one in a billion. SABIS uses fingerprints as main source for biometrics data to link the document to the person. However, facial biometrics is also supported for facial recognition.
